Assistant/Associate Professor of Occupational Safety and Health

Southeastern Oklahoma State University invites applications for a regular full-time faculty position in Occupational Safety & Health.  Rank and tenure-track status will be based on the successful candidate’s education and experience.  The candidates should have one of the following (in ranked order of preference). 

  1. A doctorate in Occupational Safety and Health or closely related occupational safety and health field.
  2. A MS or MA graduate in Occupational Safety and Health or closely related occupational safety and health field with ABD status on an approved doctorate.
  3. A MS or MA graduate in Occupational Safety and Health or closely related occupational safety and health field.

Certifications, such as CSP, ARM or CIH are highly desirable. The preferred candidate should have experience in Systems Safety, Construction Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Toxicology, and Indoor Air Quality.  Evidence of research, peer reviewed publications and presentations is highly desirable.

Founded in 1909 as a teacher college, Southeastern Oklahoma State University continues the strong tradition of producing outstanding educators for southeast Oklahoma and north Texas. Southeastern enrolls approximately 5,000 students and the campus is situated in rural Oklahoma.  The main campus is located in Durant, Oklahoma, which is 80 miles north of Dallas, Texas, and 150 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. The Department of Occupational Safety and Health is recognized for its quality graduates. Both the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs are BSCP “Qualified Academic Programs”. There are currently six full-time faculty and an enrollment of 400 undergraduate and graduate students in safety courses each term.   

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The preferred start date is January 1, 2024. Review of applications will begin September 2023 and continue until position is filled.  Position and responsibilities may require multiple campus assignments as well as varied time and delivery methods.

Employment is contingent upon the results of a national criminal and sex offender background check. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
