Job Description

Manage - in collaboration with subordinate Utilities Production supervisors, the operations and mechanical maintenance of OSU's three utilities production plants - Central Plant (CP), West Chilled Water Plant (WCWP), and Water Treatment Plant (WTP), ensuring these plants serve the OSU Stillwater campus load demand for continuous, efficient and dependable, high quality steam, chilled water, hot water, and potable water - meeting facilities' heating, cooling, and domestic water systems' needs.

Responsible for consistent adherence to all federal, state, local, university and department compliance requirements related to utilities production.

Provide the Utilities Production supervisors with leadership, direct supervision, guidance and performance evaluations in support of plant operations, mechanical maintenance and repair, staff development and supervision, and other administrative responsibilities.

Employee in this position is required to be on call for emergencies and/or any other event after 5 p.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays. Emergency or unusual conditions may require reporting to campus at random times.

Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.

Employee will perform a portion of work in a production plant environment that may include exposure to high noise levels, dust, grease, chemicals, high/low pressure steam, moving equipment, high-voltage electricity, high ambient temperatures, refrigerants, and natural gas, plus exposure to chemicals that require the use of personal safety equipment.

Work in production plant environments requires physical mobility on ladders, stairs, tight spaces around equipment, and access holes. Position may require periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs and occasionally over 50 lbs.

Due to communications expectations of the position, the incumbent is required to maintain a personal cell phone and to be continuously available both during and after normal working hours. Must work safely and promote a safe environment.
