DEFINITION OF POSITION: The Activity and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing appropriate activities for, purchasing supplies for, and assisting participants in a daily program of activities which promote one’s social skills, cognitive abilities, creative interests, emotional, and physical well-being. The Coordinator recruits, trains, and coordinates volunteers for the program. The Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the center’s Associate Director.
EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:
A. The employee operates the copy machine, fax machine, scanner, personal computer, recreation equipment, and facility vehicle, as necessary.
B. The employee works primarily indoors at Full Circle Adult Day Center. The employee shall be involved in some outdoor activities with participants and may, on occasion, be asked to attend recruitment events or projects for volunteers, and/or serve as a speaker on behalf of Full Circle during or after normal business operation hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
A. The Coordinator is responsible to collect and maintain information from family member/care giver/participant to determine the individual’s social and recreational interests.
B. Plans and implements appropriate recreational activities for adult day service participants.
C. Plans and coordinates parties and special events for the center.
D. The Coordinator comprehensively instructs and trains all staff members and/or volunteers who will be facilitating activities.
E. The Coordinator is expected to be present and involved in activities on the floor at least 50% of the time and shall be available to supervise outside vendors while performing at the center.
F. The Coordinator recruits, screens, fully trains, and supervises volunteers.
G. Promotes active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization.
H. Coordinates in advance the materials necessary for projects, activities, outings, and special events.
I. Prepares a monthly calendar of activities two weeks in advance of the month prior.
J. Ensures activities are occurring at the specified times.
K. Prepares and submits an annual summary of projection of annual activity supplies and outing expenses.
L. Works with the Social Services Director to promote the center and share events through social media.
M. Communicates and obtains permissions from participants for outings.
N. Documents the weekly activities that individuals participated in.
O. Maintains confidentiality of participants information.
P. Other duties as assigned.
