Position Title:Mobility Tech- Neurosciences
General Description: Under general supervision of nursing and rehabilitation services therapists, assists in encouraging and completing mobility tasks with patients.
Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.
Works collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, and therapy staff to provide support to patients based on previously identified needs in relation to functional activities
Assists with patient activities to include but not limited to: patient mobility, assisting patients in and out of bed, assisting patients with transfers to and from chair, assisting with basic bed exercise and activities of daily living, ambulating patients in the room, bathroom, and hallway, assisting with lifts, and other duties as needed.
Assists with fall prevention strategies, reinforces safety awareness, and assists with responding to patient falls
Supports initiatives to prevent pressure injuries, patient falls, and hospital acquired weakness.
Reports changes in mobility needs or safety concerns to nursing staff promptly
Performs other duties as assigned
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience: One of the following required: Six months in a healthcare setting; Six months therapy experience (PT/OT/Rehab Tech) or other exercise related profession; or Nurse or PT/OT student who has completed their first clinical rotation (a minimum of 100 clinical hours).
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Basic Life Support required upon hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with hospital standards
Displays strong time management skills
Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision
Demonstrates ability to safely assess patients' ability to mobilize including ambulation or transfer activities utilizing proper body mechanics, equipment, safety techniques
Basic computer, reading, and writing skills
