Position Title:Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Description:
General Description:
Process daily accounts payable activities for a multi-hospital organization.

Essential Responsibilities:
Review invoice for appropriate documentation and approval prior to initiating payment
Verify or assign general ledger coding of invoices in accordance with standard company chart of accounts
Process payments in accordance with contract terms
Process check requests
Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payments terms
Audit and process credit card bills
Assist with month end closing

General Responsibilities:
Assist with determining eligibility of new vendors and complete new vendor paperwork
Sort and distribute incoming mail
1099 maintenance
Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or 2-year Associates degree with business or accounting courses
Experience: 2+ years working with accounts payable
Certifications/Registrations Required: None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must be detail oriented with professional attitude and reliable
Proficient in Excel, Word and 10-key by touch
Possess strong organizational and time management skills
Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and chart of accounts
Able to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately
