Quality Assurance Inspector
Hours: 7am-3:30pm, Mon-Fri
Location: East Tulsa
The purpose of the Quality Inspector is to verify that incoming, in process and outgoing material and associated quality records meets quality standards of the company and/or the Customer. Verify the condition, quantity and paperwork associated with customer returns and supplied material. Must be trained and qualified to use a wide variety of inspection/test equipment and instruments. Must be able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and be able to calibrate measuring instruments per internal procedures.
Inspect incoming parts and materials as directed to verify they meet specifications of both Company and the Customer by using a variety of measuring instruments. Maintain records of lots or parts checked. May be required to record receipt data (number of parts received, and number of parts accepted/rejected, etc.).
Prepare Nonconformance Reports on any part(s) not meeting required specifications and forward to all departments for appropriate actions.
Calibrate gauges and QA instrumentation and keep records of such.
Verify the integrity of manufactured parts by inspecting these parts according to current specifications and with required QA instrumentation. Witness tests per current procedures.
May inspect manufactured parts at supplier facility to verify compliance to proper specifications and/or requirements.
Maintain extremely accurate documentation for materials and parts.
Receive and evaluate material and/or parts returned on a Returned Material Ticket (RMT) to determine condition of returned items. Verify whether parts have been damaged during return shipment.
Coordinate required inspection activities with outsourced inspectors in the manufacturing areas to assure compliance with customer requirements and/or specifications.
Perform visible & fluorescent penetrant inspection.
Performs other duties as assigned. Willing to become proficient with new equipment and methods. Willing to work flexible hours and overtime. Willing to work with QA Team to find innovative solutions? Willing to provide input for work instructions. Willing to obtain and maintain ASME/National Board-Certified Inspector accreditation
Minimum: Diploma or GED and at least 2-year technical college education degree or 4 years’ inspection/test experience. Current certification by the American Society for Quality may be substituted for the college education. Preference given to any individual trained as an SNT-TC-1A Level II or higher in nondestructive testing (NDT) particularly in PT, UT, BT, LT, and RT.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in some or all of the following: Checking high-precision parts using Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges, and Optical Comparators. Dimensional checking of threads required. Calibrating hand gauges against known standards. Use and calibration of pressure gauges. Additional experience with metal fabricated parts, ASME, Aerospace parts, or Nuclear parts is desired. Computer knowledge a plus. Should be able to use Gage pack and CMM programs.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to understand and apply basic math skills. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to practical problems. Understanding of Basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing concepts. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, etc.,). Ability to look up reference material (material tables, sampling plans, etc.) within ASTM, ASME, and ANSI standards and make sound decisions resulting from the information available. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Calipers, micrometers, inspection gauges, and any other equipment required for inspection such as for hydrostatic testing, bubble leak tests, Helium Leak tests, etc. Calibration standards and Pressure Calibration tools. Must possess the ability to learn the computer system and work with company enterprise software. Uses office equipment such as telephones, facsimile machine, photocopier, etc.
