Description

Fitter / Welder Training Program will provide students with the opportunities to develop a basic skill set to enter into employment as a Structural Fitter-Welder.
The basic shop skills taught in this program will provide any student with the foundation to enter into most fabrication and manufacturing facilities and begin to enhance their beginning skill set.
Our intent is to have all students completing this course enter into gainful employment after demonstrating competency in the following areas:
Basic Fit-up which consists of Metal Identification, Print Reading, Reading of Tape Measure, Proper use of Basic Fit-up Tools, Basic Shop Math, Layout, Etc.
Welding Instructions in Weld Processes, Weld Procedures, and Weld Symbols, Fillet Welds, Butt Welds, Flare Grove Welds, how to Gauge the size of welds, and how to Prep welds.
Students will receive instructions on the Acceptance Criteria.
AWS: D1.1 structural weld code.
Recognize different weld Discontinuities, their cause, and how to correct them.
And the effects of heat on steel, due to welding.
After completing the classroom training, skill level training will consist of hands on training on fit-up and welding.
After completing the program a student should be capable of passing the 2G Weld test.
