Description
The Practical Nursing program is an Individualized Options program that
can be completed in 12 months; the student must attend a minimum of 30
hours per week. The program consists of 60% theory and 40% clinical
activities. Clinical rotations are the only portion of this course that
is not flexible. The course prepares them to take the NCLEX exam for
Licensed Practical Nursing. The potential student must complete the
admissions process, which include a reading and math test. The Practical
Nursing program is accredited by the ODCTE and Oklahoma Board of
Nursing. The program includes time in the classroom for theory
instruction, laboratory practice of skills, and clinical practice where
laboratory skills and theory knowledge is applied. Students rotate
through area hospitals and nursing homes performing procedures and
providing patient care. This requires additional commuting to the
regional and metro area facilities. Field trips to metropolitan
hospitals are also part of the students learning experiences. PROGRAM
ENTRANCE INFORMATION Candidates with felony convictions or who received
deferred sentences for felony offenses cannot apply for licensure for
