CLASS TITLE: Systems Administrator
PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of City user computers.
• Provides hardware and software support for all workstations, printers, copiers and any other equipment attached to the computer or network.
• Provides hardware and software support for all Microsoft servers including file servers, email servers and SQL servers in stand-alone and virtual environments.
• Maintains web and email filters, email servers and clients, email archive server, antivirus server and clients, Active Directory, backup server and tape library, and network, server and PC security.
• Provides software support for all Microsoft Office applications and other PC-based applications.
• Helps Network Specialist provide support for network troubleshooting and repair.
• Helps other IT employees provide support for VoIP telephone system.
• Assists departments with maintaining each section of the website.
• Records City Council and Public Works meetings.
• Operates office equipment such as fax machines, copiers and phone systems and uses computer for spreadsheets, word processing, database management and other applications; learns to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.
• Performs other work as necessary and or as assigned.
• Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.

The Systems Administrator reports directly to the IT Director.
The Systems Administrator does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.
Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and at least an associate’s degree in a related field with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience with server and PC troubleshooting in a networked environment. Preference will be given to applicants with experience on IBM AS/400 or iSeries product lines.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Basic knowledge of network hardware including switches, routers, cabling, firewalls and other such equipment; knowledge of and experience with network protocols; experience with Microsoft PC operating systems that include Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8; experience with server administration on Windows Server 2003 and 2008 Standard and Enterprise; experience with Microsoft Exchange server administration; experience maintaining Microsoft Office applications; experience with configuring web filters (Barracuda preferred); experience with virtual servers in VMWare environment. Knowledge and experience with Active Directory and domain controllers is a must. Experience with VoIP telephone systems is a plus. Candidate must be very customer service oriented and be able to carry out daily tasks with minimal supervision. Must be a self-starter.

Punctuality and reasonable attendance is essential. Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D driver’s license is required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work in this classification is primarily indoors in an office environment. Will travel to other City locations as required. Requires some night and weekend work with ability to work on-call.
Notice: This classification is a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a “safety sensitive” classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
STARTING PAY: $18.37/hr. – $26.12/hr. Excellent employee benefits (insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement, holidays).
WORK HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Requires some night and weekend work with ability to work on-call.
