Under indirect and/or minimal supervision: Will accurately perform blood bank testing of varying complexities according to standards of all accrediting agencies. Will prepare blood products using cGMP (current good manufacturing processes) to ensure safety and quality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
- Perform laboratory testing on patient samples and report results in a timely manner.
- Perform and document required quality control/maintenance to ensure accurate reliable results.
- Teach methodologies to new technologists.
- Cooperate with other laboratory/hospital staff members to provide high quality patient care.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Participate in organizational activities
- Perform miscellaneous job related duties and assignments
- Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Education: Graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program preferred.
Licensure: MT/CLS (ASCP) preferred.
Experience: One year of clinical training required. Recent blood bank experience, in a hospital setting, and 6 months post-training experience, preferred.
Certifications: ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
Other: Applicant should be comfortable working under minimal supervision.
