Job Description

Description: Performs a variety of park, landscape, maintenance and repair duties associated with the operation and safety of the City parks, roadways, airport, balllfields, swimming pool, irrigation systems, Lake Durant, alleys, right of ways, Senior Citizen Building, Federal Building, Library, Literacy Council Building, Cemetery and City Hall; operates mowing equipment to mow turf grass areas; performs general park maintenance including: watering, weeding, fertilizing, renovating landscape areas, raking leaves, cleaning walkways and playground areas, removing trash, cleaning, maintaining and or remodeling buildings, installing irrigation systems, designing flower beds, planting trees and shrubs, testing soils and preparing soil for planting, applying chemicals and fertilizer and controlling insects, pests, fungi and plant diseases. Cleans, restocks supplies and reports problems in public buildings or facilities; repairs minor sprinkler and irrigation problems; attends meetings, classes and seminars regarding parks and ground maintenance; operates light equipment and machinery; performs preventative maintenance on parks, buildings, street maintenance and mowing/power equipment. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

A high school diploma or equivalent, AND one (1) year experience in park, ground and/or building maintenance; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess at the time of application and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
Potential employees subject to drug screening.

Work is performed in an outdoor environment. Work may require frequent standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to repetitive motion, extreme temperatures and weather, areas under construction, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases. Some night/evening hours may be required.
