Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages and maintains the University’s scholarship system and institutional/external scholarships. Coordinates with external departments, including but not limited to academic departments, Athletics, University Advancement, Development Office, One Stop and external agencies, to authorize award nominations based on financial need, enrollment, and other requirements. Consults with students on scholarship eligibility and requirements and ensures that students and parents understand federal and institutional regulations pertaining to scholarships.

KNOWLEDGE RESPONSIBILITIES

Professionally and efficiently execute Cameron University’s commitment to student success. Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations. Understands and applies Title IV, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Tribal Higher Education and other related policies as they relate to student scholarships. Maintains knowledge of policies of other departments (Registrar, Business Office, Human Resources, Athletics, etc.) and understands the impact on a student’s financial aid eligibility.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Receives and disseminates memos concerning new scholarships or changes appropriately. Serves on the scholarship committee and supports strategic initiatives for university scholarships and waivers. Maintains proficiency with the enterprise student record and scholarship systems and collaborates with the Information Systems Specialist and departments concerning updates as necessary and to create more efficient processes. Maintains a processes and procedures manual for scholarship-specific duties, institutional and federal regulations, and collaborates with the Information Systems Specialist on a system manual. Collaborates with Business Office to create and maintain fund codes as necessary. Posts internal and external scholarships and waivers to student accounts in a timely manner. Adjusts award budgets within regulation as necessary to ensure students receive all aid allowed and keeps strict records for audit purposes. Collaborates with other Financial Assistance staff members to ensure students are not over awarded. Runs and reviews miscellaneous reports necessary for daily operations and disbursement to ensure scholarship requirements are met and adjusting amounts as necessary, collaborating with ITS when updates and new reports are necessary. Collaborates with Financial Assistance staff as necessary on scholarship needs analyses.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES

Consults with students and parents pertaining to financial literacy and planning to ensure they are well informed and able to meet financial responsibilities. Trained in and has the ability to fill in for presentations (e.g., workshops, orientation sessions, etc.). Participates in staff development programming, campus functions and serves on University committees. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS/ABILITIES

Strong interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving skills, and demonstrated skill in oral and written communication. Ability to work and communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse populations. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relations with students, faculty, staff and the public.
