Summary/ObjectiveThe Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will have contact with the Controller and CFO which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; assist in preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defining accounting policies and procedures.Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing accounting regulations; recommending new procedures.Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.Assist with the daily banking requirements.Supports budget and forecasting activities.Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.Responds to inquiries from the Controller, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.Support Divisional CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.The Employee should be able to adhere to Vetta Brands Code of Conduct and Core Values.CompetenciesStrong communication skillsStrong Microsoft Office skillsPays attention to details.Interpersonal skills including the ability to work with those from other cultures & countriesStrong computer skillsReliabilityFinancial management.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position manages all employees of the Accounting department, outside of the Control
