The Completions Engineering Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and managing the overall implementation of completion and workover activities in accordance with approved programs, procedures, and practices with the specific objective of safeguarding the safety of personnel, property, & protection of the environment while achieving optimum efficiency and managing to reduce operating costs.
Constantly reinforce, build and support Gulfport’s safety-first culture
Review designs and procedures making recommendations for change when warranted to ensure the execution of safe and cost-effective completion and workover operations
Supervise and manage the activities of all completions personnel to ensure a safe, environmentally aware and low-cost work environment
Provide support to all technical and field staff to troubleshoot problems as they arise and ensure good decision making before, during and after each stage of the operation.
Lead and guide the development, integration and implementation of new well completion programs to meet short and long-term production targets in the safest, most cost effective and timely manner
Work with resource development and geoscience teams to optimize all development plans and completion practices
Work with geology and reservoir teams to design and model technically applicable fracture stimulation designs for the most cost effective lateral placement and spacing
Evaluate new technologies, methods and techniques for all phases of completion operations
Continually review and analyze Gulfport’s fracture stimulation designs relative to in basin peers and industry best practices
Strive to ensure Gulfport turns in line wells that meet or exceed type curve expectations for applicable fields and geologic areas
Work with offset peer companies to understand drilling & completion schedules with the objective of minimizing offset fracture hit potential and associated lost production
Continually evaluate the contract staff to ensure Gulfport employs the best people available in all operations
Ensure all spills, incidents or near misses are reported through the HS&E department and are documented for corrective action during all completion and workover operations
Be aware and fully understand all laws (State and Federal) affecting our operations and fully comply with all applicable regulatory requirements
Ensure effective communication with all levels of employees and contractors in a respectful and inclusive way
Review all invoices thoroughly to ensure accuracy, proper costs and coding. Make it your objective and charge to ensure all costs are accurate and billed as represented
Prepare Scopes of work for contract services & work with supply chain in preparing the RFP’s each budget cycle
Manage the preparation of AFE’s and cost estimates to ensure all documents accurately reflect most current bid pricing and are at, or less, than market for all services
Submit weekly updates outlining all activity regarding EH&S, operations, and capital budget tracking
Report and update management of any events outside the scope of normal operations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
In depth understanding of completions process
Ability to communicate with all personnel involved in completions process
Ability to complete projects assigned within deadlines
Ability to manage multiple projects and complete projects assigned with necessary follow up within deadlines
Ability to perform detailed and complicated technical analysis and reporting, along with understanding complex maps and reports
Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Power Point. GIS knowledge a plus.
Strong analytical, technical writing, data presentation, and oral presentation skills
Good working knowledge of oil and gas industry and process control systems
Employment contingent upon submission to and successful completion of pre-placement drug test along with random drug testing and a motor vehicles check
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Bachelor of Science Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering
Experience as a Completions Manager for 10 + years with another company in a similar capacity with increasing responsibilities
Industry training and certifications are preferred
This job operates in both a professional office environment and a field environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, iPads, iPhones, laptop computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This job also operates in a field environment with various equipment, dust, debris, and varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to climb stairs, drive for long periods of time, walk and/or stand for long periods of time, perform work in all types of weather conditions.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload/needs of the company.
Local and out of town travel should be anticipated for this position.
