Job Description
  1. Job Summary
    The position is located in Tulsa, OK and is part of the Community Nutrition Education Program (CNEP) Tulsa Unit. This position is funded using a combination of federal and grant dollars with 100% adult programming emphasis.

Teaches basic nutrition, food safety, food budgeting, and physical activity to individuals and/or groups of low-income families eligible to receive SNAP benefits. Provides community outreach to agencies and organizations in targeted areas to motivate participants to develop healthier eating habits for their families.

Requires travel within assigned county and district. Occasional overnight travel. Travel budget provided.

Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance, and available funding.

This is considered a non-exempt position.

Hours should not exceed 40 hours per week. Any deviation from regularly scheduled hours requires pre-approval from your supervisor. Check with your supervisor to confirm weekly scheduled hours at your location.

Hours may vary during scheduled county events to include some evening and weekend time.

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

  1. Position Qualifications

High School/GED with 1 year of work experience.

Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle with current liability insurance.

Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently. Ability to respond positively to supervision. Ability to read, write, and speak the appropriate language of program participants and facilitate educational sessions. Ability to meet deadlines and complete required program reports. Ability to analyze the conditions and needs of participants and make recommendations. Use of people skills/ability to relate to audience in order to convey key educational messages. Excellent people skills.


Previous successful work experience. Interest in learning and then teaching nutrition related information. Prior teaching experiences (formal or informal). Experience working with computers/internet based programs. Ability to conduct educational sessions in Spanish (if applicable).
