Obtain specimens for laboratory procedures. Instructs patients and other personnel of the proper procedure for specimen collection and processing. Retrieves and delivers documents, supplies, equipment and specimens for clients and the department. Processes specimens for analysis and storage.

Education:

High school education or equivalent. Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience:

3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood. 32 hours of clinical rotation is preferred.

Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
