  1. General Description

The RESTart Instructor will be responsible for creating and facilitating an artistic workshop for individuals to meet the needs of the College and goal of grant.

  1. Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Provide positive creative experiences for elective enrollees in non-credit art classes through guided projects in a variety of media and genres.

Develop independent curriculum appropriate for a brief non-credit course.

Provide supportive instruction, including clear course objectives, relevant class activities, clear presentations of learning materials and maintenance of a positive atmosphere in the classroom.

Maintain a clean and well-organized lab.

Projects could include basic Drawing, Painting, Collage, Ceramics, Screen Printing or other media approved by the supervising coordinator.

Support the College’s vision, mission, goals and priorities.

Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, Division and College administrators.

Attend meetings as required.

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

  1. Minimum Education/Experience

Visual Arts experience with proficiency in painting, relief printing processes, glass slumping, ceramics, or other related fields. Ability to demonstrate abilities. Application must include three images of current work.

  1. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience with a diverse student population.

Knowledge of basic Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Collage, Ceramics and/or other miscellaneous media.

Organization and attention to detail.

Must be punctual and reliable.

  1. Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the art and pottery labs to assist faculty and students and perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position may require the person to frequently position self to use the upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to move, lift, push or pull heavy materials dependent upon agreed upon medium.

This position may require the person to frequently remain in a standing or stationary position.

This position requires the person to operate a computer and other equipment associated the with the art and pottery labs.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, classroom or office setting.

Annual Hours: Limited hours as needed or assigned with hours being on a limited basis contingent on grant’ needs and funding. Total hours not to exceed 25 hours per week or 100 hours in a fiscal year.

Placement Range: $29.00 per hour

Position Type: Temporary Part-time
