- General Description
The Division of Cultural Programs oversees event activities (college and non-college) in the OCCC Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater, the OCCC Inasmuch Foundation Gallery, and the OCCC Bruce Owen Theater. The Cultural Programs student employees support the division’s office, front of house, box office, event and back-stage operations. They work as office clerks, box office cashiers, event staff, and gallery docents, as assigned.

- Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Man the reception area and assist the Office Manager and office staff with the daily clerical activities of the Department of Cultural Programs.
Answer phone and associated inquiries.
Deliver and pick up memos, forms, and other materials as required.
Distribute mail as required.
Update computer files, forms and records.
Compose, type, and mail correspondence.
Process Box Office ticket sales per established guidelines.
Serve as docent for Gallery Exhibits.
Assist event and volunteer coordinator with front of house event operations (ushering, greeting, merchandise sales, ticket-taking, etc.).
Distribute Marketing/PR materials.
Effectively interact with and provide information and assistance to faculty, staff, students, and the public regarding Cultural Programs programs, services, and operations.

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
- Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall OR Spring semester OR enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
- Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Proficient listening skills and ability to institute instructions.
Flexible hours (may include evenings and weekends).
Professional attire when working in the office.
Professional attitude and demeanor.
Proficient communication skills; written and oral.
Excellent Customer Service skills.
Typing, filing, bookkeeping ability.
Attention to detail.
Ability to learn new computer programs quickly, i.e. Vendini Ticket Agent.
- Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Cultural Programs Office, the OCCC theaters, Art Gallery, and campus to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to customers, vendors, students, staff, faculty, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
This position requires the person to position self to access equipment, materials, or supplies that may be above head or ground level.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor office setting.
- Preferred Qualifications
Speak foreign language; preferable Spanish (other may be acceptable) to assist visiting artists and communications with other countries.
Valid driver’s license
